For my purposes, free hot water during the heating season works. My only other question would be, during the summer, what ball park percentage could we ascribe to the consumption of oil to heat the water I use versus the oil consumed to keep the water hot for that occasion when I might use it?

I've been told that at least 75% of the oil would be used to keep the water hot in anticipation of my using some, and the rest used to heat the incoming water used to replace the hot water I've used.

I realize these are really only guesses, but it's important that I be able to justify, at least to some degree, some dollar amounts. And I very much appreciate the time you've taken to help me.

Thanks for your help,

Gary
