The original idea of a tankless coil was that heated water was FREE during the heating season because otherwise the heat would have been wasted in the off cycle. The answer is somewhere in between; but only the folks who are designing an AFUE testing procedure in ASHRAE have the interest and consistent purpose to come up with that information.

OK. Let's cut to the chase.

Type right here and now how much water in pounds you use each day on average, what the average ground water temperature is - and how hot the water comes out on average, so a definite number can be used. Give a tested efficiency of your boiler.

Then type right here what the heat factor your oil company uses to arrive at your usage at those degree days.

You are asking for a definite number without knowing or caring what the heat loss of the house is or the efficiency of the boiler. Garbage in, garbage out. Guess in, guess out.
