Picture an old brownstone in Boston...4 stories (and apartments), one thermostat in the hallway. As people enter the hallway, the thermostat fires up the steam radiators. At night, the rooms cool off before the hallway because everyone is asleep and no one enters the door to trigger the thermostat.

I suspect we'll have to leave it as one thermostat, but I was curious what other folks have done in a similiar situation...
