The water level in the site glass is pretty high. I was leaking water and steam from it last week. I have a service contract with my oil company so I called them to fix it. The tech replaced the site glass and the gaskets because the old ones were all corroded. Then he added some water back into the system. Pipe hammering got really bad after that.

Should I just drain some water from the boiler? I have an automatic water feed and a low water cut-off. Is it as simple as turning the power off, closing the water feed valve, and opening the boiler drain valve?

Thanks for your help
