We have a Utica Oil-Fired Steam Boiler from the 70's that runs dry and shuts itself off repeatedly. The water level in the glass never changed during the summer, but now we have to add water about 6 times/day now that the heating season is here. The auto feed has never worked in the past six years. We've not noticed any water around the outside of the boiler or around any radiators or the pipes in the basement.
Also, any suggestions for the better chooice in replacement, Gas or Oil Fired?
