Anti-freeze or continuous circulation?

This winter I replaced a very old boiler with a new Dunkirk Quantum in a very old house. The circulator on the old boiler ran continuously, but the new one only runs when the thermostat calls for heat.

We finally have real cold weather, and I lost circulation to a back bedroom from what I believe is a frozen pipe (took 10 hours of bleeding water, keeping one pipe hot until the other finally started to flow).

I think I could just wire the circulator to line current, disconnecting the on/off function from the boiler control board. Or, should I ask the installer to put in anti-freeze?

(This site--> very helpful, thanks).
