For now. It was a quick fix to put a "three way" switch inbetween the circulator and boiler control allowing me to switch between boiler control or line power (on). The circ pump has three settings. Installer had it on medium; I moved it to low -- *very* quiet.
Boiler now cycles every couple of hours instead of every 20 minutes. Water temp now drops to 70 instead of bottoming at 120. Heat in various rooms has evened out again, very comfortable.
Last night it got down to 4F. It took the house 6 hours to drop from 70 to 62 (setback thermometer) during which time the boiler never came on. No problem with back bedroom freezing. It was 70 when I got up at 7am.
I'm happy. If something freezes again, I'll ask for juice. Thanks.
