You can go to weil-mclain.com and read the manuals to check. Standing pilot will be slightly less efficient, but you may gain having heat if the electric power is out if you have a decent layout for gravity flow of the hot water. An indirect heater is the way to go for several reasons, unless you are a single person thatr uses little water. Then the cheapest installation would rule. Go to the earler forum and search on "indirect heater" or go to WM or burnham.com and read of the advantages.
