I have a New Yorker s 176 residential oil boiler and yesterday I noticed that the upstairs radiator heaters were not functioning. I went down in the basement to inspect the boiler and noticed that water was dripping from the flow relief value above the expansion tank. Furthermore I noticed that the Pressure gauge was reading zero. I called my heating oil company and spoke with the service manager. i explained the symptoms and he told me that I had air in the heating pipe and there was not enough pressure for the unit to push the hot water to the upper areas of the home. I scheduled an appointment with a plumber to fix the problem however I live in the north east and with the cold snap plumbers are in short supply. Its now been two days without heat and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to repair the problem.
