Just blow a little water out each time so that sediment doesn't build up and block water from getting everywhere in the boiler. It will crack if it gets overheated anywhere. There may be more places to blow down, low water cutoff, returns, gauge glass, etc. Have the pressure at the minimum your switch will go to. Make sure it has water. Radiators may need air vent (one pipe system) or trap(two pipe) maintenance now and then. I wouldn't bother with chemicals. If the water line is bouncing a lot the boiler may need skimming.
