: I am in the process of having an old Hydro-therm boiler replaced. I have had four contractors in and two more scheduled for estimates. Two contractors have recommended Weil-Mclean, one Munchkin or Buderus and one Buderus. I am pretty sure that one of the two remaining contractors will recommend Burnham. I am going to go with an indirect water heater as well. Price-wise all the estimate so far are in the same ballpark so it is really coming down to a question of quality. Condensing or not? Cast iron v. stainless steel v. aluminum? Any recommendations and/or thoughts are welcome.

Baseboard and you are correct re: Gas. Home is 2300 sq. ft. and quotes have been anywhere from 100,000 BTU (Weil Mclain and Munchkin) to 155,000 BTU(Buderus)
