Do you have the fresh air intake hooked up to the Carlin? There shouldn't be a downdraft problem when both flue and intake have a "balanced" connection to the outside air? There's also a pre and post purge module to bring on the burner fan 30 seconds before and keep it runnning 30 seconds afer shutdown to vent leftover exhaust gases. Do you hear the pre/post fan running?
