All good advice. You are on the right track. Slant/Fin and the others also have 100% fuel safteys. The advice against oversizing is very important. Keep the steam pressure VERY low, under 2 PSI, if you can. This lengthens cycles (both on and off) by moving the steam at the designed rate. Some air vents won't "drop away" or reopen above 2 psi. Spring and fall, the new smaller boiler will be cheaper to run; shorter warmup times. In the cold part of the year, it cools less, so it won't differ as much. Noel, Tech Service, Slant/Fin Corp.
