Two boilers are installed in parallel if for the same load. It is done to match the amount of boiler to the changing load and/or for back-up when critical. They could be of two sizes. It is overkill for 240kBtu, and since you only have one zone, I would hope that the bidders with two boilers had another reason. (to make more money?).
