Hi - am buying an old (1934) house with what is presumably the original steam boiler system. The boiler is an "American Radiator Co." Ideal Redflash (?)
Have never owned a home with steam (or hot water) heat, and am wondering if I could get some pointers on what to look for, look out for, etc. in my inspections and pre-purchase timeframe. For example, is there any way to guage the remaining lifespan of this system? What would be good replacement systems when/if it does buy the farm?
Also wonder if there are any resources about this particular boiler/system?
