Growing up as a kid, we had forced hot air. In later years I have visited a number of houses with it, also. I find the noise of it blowing very annoying. Go for the hot water. I suspect that it is easier to get the hot water radiators where you want them, because the piping takes up less space than the hot air ductwork. You can also set up separate heat zones for the house with hot water. I'm not sure if hot air can be zoned.
