Do not drain and refill ever with out running the boiler for an hour or so to get condensed gases, especially oxygen, out of the water. I would get it up to pressure and blowdown all fittings on the return, boiler, LWC etc and then manually raise the waterline to the top of the glass and boil the new water for an hour and shut it down. The higher water line wiill cause any corrosion at the water/air/iron junction to be at a different level than wintertimes. I wouldn't bother with chemicals, but there are other schools of thought. I have seen a lot of rusting above pilot lights where there is not any draft to carry away the condensation from the pilot. I would shut it off. Some think it keeps an appliance warm and dry. It might if there is a draft or extremely dry location.
