Is it a steam or hot water boiler? When it is running it may be hot enough to evaporate any leakage. You just have to follow the leak upward, removing jacketing and/or insulation you may need a mirror etc if it goes inward. Leaks are more common in the threads of a fitting such as that return. If that, threading a new nipple in with pipe dope may stop it. There are additives such as for car radiators but that is usually a cheap fast fix to get by til warm weather or money arrives. If your leak is in the middle of the steel surface it is probably worn thin.
