Actually Harold, the house is not nearly 10,000sf. The heating contractor oversized the furnace because it is also used to heat the hot water through a Phase III indirect as well as if we ever finish our attic, we would add over 1000sf.
When the plumber was here, he said the difference between the input and output side of the boiler was about 20 degrees so that definitely is within specs.
Today the boiler started making the noise with the operating temp at 170 and the high fire at 155. How low should I turn down these values? The air handler in the third floor attic (the attic is not heated) has an aquastat that will not allow the blowers to turn on if the water is less than 155 degrees. However, this is adjustable. What would you set the operating and high fire temps as well as the air handler aquastat? Thank you very much for your advice.
Dave
