My house has a second floor apartment of approximately 900 square feet, one bathroom and a kitchen included. The apartment is served by an American Standard Arcoliner boiler rated at 360 square feet of steam. The boiler supplies hat water and heat. I'm wondering if this syetem is overkill or over rated? The apartment has a humid feeling when the heat is on and the radiators make a hissing noise intermittently, is this normal? The heat must be cranked to get hot water, aquastat at 145 degrees, any ideas?

What are some good resources for steam heat info regarding maintanence, balancing, etc.?
Any help is appreciated, the system dates to the 40's I think and is a single pipe system I think. Thanks in advance for any input.

Tom
