Thanks very much to HK and Jtown - I read what you say
to indicate that its probably wiser to stick with oil
actually, was thinking about converting for two reasons-
already have gas coming into the house for hot water heater,
clothes dryer, range/oven
and figured that OPEC has too much control and likely to
put it to us - whereas natural gas comes out of States/Canada
Anyway - you guys really accomplish something important on this site, so
many thanks

: HK has a good point. You can buy a little larger boiler and fire it at it's lower range to have a larger water surface and steam chest and maybe outlet for drier steam. Gas used to have an advantage of steadier prices, but your legislators have probably taken care of that with deregulation. Gas has a nice advantage - if your tank or chimney are about due, gas has no tank and lining or putting up a B vent is low compared to an all fuel rated chimney for oil. Oil is a little more in maintenance also.
