: What is your pressure? Does banging seem to be in end of mains or upstairs? Drop pressure to minimum, check traps on third floor. Did you replace an old tall coal boiler with a short one? Unless you came out of a pit you probably went to a shorter boiler with a better "B"

I have the pressuretrol set to cut in at .5 psi and cut out at 2 psi. My water hammer is in the end of main in the basement. The traps on the 3rd floor seem to functioning properly . You were correct, I did replace a tall coal converted to gas boiler to a shorter one. the water level effectively dropped 15 inches.
