You may need to tighten/add/repack the packing gland on your radiator valves. Fairly easy, try tightening the nut CW just a touch. If that doesn't work, back the nut off when cold and wrap a bit of shoestring packing around the stem and snug the nut up gently. If it is full you may need to dig the old out with nut picks etc. Make sure thread catches on a few turns before using a wrench on it. Forget the water filter. Stick a cheap magnet on your boiler if you want to go the holistic healing route. You should keep your leaks fixed, including air vents so you aren't using adding water anyways. You should have an owners manual to explain blowdowns etc. Noise, is at start up or all through cycle or end, oil or gas, etc is it like a banging of the pipes or gentle?
