You have air in the lines. Look for bleeders, little valves at the top of any cast iron radiators or in your tubing for baseboards. They might be built into the elbows where your pipes get to a floor and then turn to go horizontally. You might need to buy a key for them at the local hardware. It is like a clock key. Excess velocity of the water can help make it worse. If it is too high it might be throttled a little. Look for an air separator on top of your boiler or inline, it looks like a float chamber with a shraeder (car tire) valve (NOT any on a big expansion tank) press the valve to get air out there. It might need replacing.
