Harold/Jtown; thanks for advice so far, this site is great and someday i hope i can offer advice. There is a 40 gallon Amtrol tank on system and 4 heating zones. They are controled by one circ. and 5 Honeywell Zone valves. Am considering replacing boiler with smaller unit. One problem with oil convert is propane boiler is piped with B-vent so unless i go direct vent will need new piping. Also thinking about using two boilers with common headerand shutoffs. Would use a small efficient oil burner for hot water and not so cold days and have large Weil Mclain as backup. Do you know of a good direct vent oil burner and exactly what and how would an indoor-outdoor controler do to prevent overlapping demand? I beleive that the boiler short cyles are definately part of problem. Even with two burners removed boiler still meets demand on the coldest days in two minutes. Most boiler guys I've spoken to beleive that I am losing heat up chiminey and that I might not have enough flow. Does anyone know if i could remove more tubes from this boiler? Again thanks to all, I am trying everything to make this boiler work but if i can change the whole system for nuder a few thousand it might be the best route to go. If i cut my bill in half with oil, payback may come in one season. # note- Cg-7 came as natural gas and was converted to LP.
