Also, go to your local heating supply houses. They usually have someone that helps contractors with design etc. They usually don't mind throwing a little advice and literature to homeowners, hoping they might buy from contractors that deal there. Go to websites of their brands. There is homeowner sections everywhere. New gas boilers aren't a hell of a lot more efficient than old ones. You might get a better payback with insulation etc if that is below par.
