Oil Fired Boilers - various

Does anyone have any recommendations for replacement boilers. My current boiler is rated for 185,000 btu/hr. I do not use it to heat my hot water. It is connected to a one pipe system that has worked pretty well. Do any manufacturers make a wood/oil fired steam boiler?

By the way, I am assuming I may need to replace it because it blew up. I heard a loud bang, much louder than the typical start up ignition. When I checked it I saw that it had blown the side panel off and I could look into the steam coils (?) of the firebox. Any ideas what may have caused this.

Is there any type of certification that my boiler installer/maintainer should have to assure me he/she knows what they are doing?

Last question, I use a wood stove as my primary source of heat. The boiler comes on in the early morning hours of the coldest days in the winter (in Northern Maine). Am I subjecting the boiler to too much firing by requiring it to reheat the water every time. Also should I not set the thermostat back during the nighttime??

Many questions, any help would be appreciated.
