I agree wholeheartedly with HK. Leave the wood for a fireplace for ambiance (etc). Oil can have delayed ignition also, but less common. Stand back and watch the thing start up. It should start rather smartly. If it doesn't it could be a host of problems, bad oil, electrodes, air leaks, air plugged etc. Remember your fire triangle, heat + oxygen + fuel. Get a good service guide and/or person.
