I have just bought a new house that has a Crane boiler cat# 110-D Series B-A. I have replaced all the vents on the radiators and the house seems to heat pretty evenly. My problem is that the boiler comes on when the thermostat calls for heat and runs nonstop for 1 hr then shuts down for about 1.5 hrs with the outside temp between 20 & 30 degrees. This is going thru about 100 gallons of fuel oil per week. Is this normal and if not is there anyway to reduce this fuel consumption rate as this is costinging almost as much as my morgage. I do not have much information about this system because the house was empty for about 1 year with the former owner passing away.
