It's a fin/tube radiator. We know the vent works
because the plumber ran it through a cycle to
test it. He also said the radiator was probably
too small for the space, which does have a lot of
windows, but that now it wasn't heating up at all.
He checked for blockages back to the main pipe and
found none. Said it was a "physics" problem, and
wanted to consult an old-timer steam expert to
figure out how to fix it. From your description it
sounds like the pitch could be the culprit. I'm
not sure how to raise the end of this kind of
radiator, though, so will probably have to wait for
the "old-timer's" solution.
