I replaced my Honeywell T-Stat (Heat only w/2 wire hook-up for a Weil-McLain Gas furnace, 2001 model)with a Totaline P474-1050. There are only two wires coming out of the wall that are hooked up to the Honeywell, the Red wire went to a terminal RC and the White went to a terminal W. On the Totaline, I hooked the Red wire to the R terminal and the White wire to the W1 terminal. I then selected heat mode on the new t-stat and raised the temp. to turn on the furnace. After a few seconds, the red light came on on the t-stat, I heard a click come from the furnace relay (Taco SR506 EXP Switching Relay)and then I heard another click from the furnace relay and I saw the letters PF flash on the screen of the T-stat and then the red light turned off. All this happened in a matter of seconds. I stopped at this point and assumed that something was wrong. I spoke to a few people and they told me that the T-Stat does not have enough power to operate and to solve this problem, I need to hook up a resistor(supplied with the T-Stat) to the transformer thats located on the inside front of the boiler, between the W and C terminals. Anyone out there have experience with these t-stats and have you had to do this remedy before (or heard of it) and is it okay to do. I don't want to screw anything up. Any help and comments are appreciated. Thanks
