As a First Class Boiler Operator/Engineer at Evergreen Plywood you'll have the opportunity to:

- Support manufacturing by maximizing the boiler uptime and supplying a set pressure and constant flow of steam to the Plywood and Sawmill plants in Evergreen.

- Maintain the boiler to ensure that all system checks and boiler operating procedures are performed to ASME code and Plum Creek's policy standards.

- Operate heavy equipment, which includes running a D3 bulldozer, 966 front-end loader, and skid steer loader to sort log yard bark and keep the outlying boiler area clean.

- Operate two types of boilers, requires a MT Class 1 Boiler Operator/Engineer license.

- Riley Stoker Boiler MTB #3372
Capacity: 100,000 PPH @ 300 psi saturated
Fuel: Hogged Fuel, Plywood Sander Dust (one wall burner)
Emission Control: Electrostatic Precipitator PPC

- CE Natural Gas Boiler MTB #2050
Capacity: 20,500 PPH @ 500 psi saturated
Fuel: Natural Gas
Emission Control: None

- Work with a team of boiler operators to maintenance boiler operation; including but not limited to boiler operation and maintenance.

- Work with others including supervisors and other plant personnel.

- Perform maintenance tasks involving but not limited to equipment inspection and preventative maintenance (including rolling stock); keeping boiler area clean; running water tests; and conducting water and supply treatments.


Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Valid MT State First Class Boiler Operator/License required.

Experience: Have at least 1-year full-time experience as a MT State First Class Boiler Operator/Engineer. Forklift certification required. Skills/experience in maintenance of boilers and related equipment, as well as in welding/cutting and repair of pumps, pipes, valves and air compressors preferred. CDL license a plus.

Specific Skills:

Knowledge and proficiency in operating the bulldozer, front-end loader, skid steer loader, and forklifts.

Ability to learn the boiler systems and controls but not limited to utilizing computer system to operator the boiler, water and supply treatment, running water tests, running soot blowers, inspecting equipment, cleaning various areas, and operating heavy equipment to keep fuel bunker loaded and boiler area clean.

Ability to learn to troubleshoot boiler control systems.

Possess strong mechanical abilities to provide maintenance duties involving equipment repair and replacement of boiler components.

As sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production and minimizing down time is necessary in this type of environment.

Tasks performed involve work with equipment and materials that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and ability to follow these procedures in order to maintain the safety of the work environment.

Possess above average computer skills and computer systems knowledge, and the willingness to continually learn new applications.

Ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments; willingness to learn new things; be a team player/leader; good communications skills and demonstrate a positive attitude.

Self-starter with the ability and willingness to work without supervision.

Willingness to work any shift, work overtime, weekends, and boiler maintenance (emergencies, scheduled shut downs, and operator relief).

Ability to use computerized Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Ability to maintain a clean work station, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records.


Additional Requirements: The job of Boiler Engineer is a Very Heavy Duty job. Very Heavy involves exertion of more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or exertion of more than 20 pounds continuously to move objects.

Essential duties include but are not limited to stooping, climbing, crawling and the ability to lift 50 to 100 lbs. Must be comfortable working outside as necessary.

Candidates must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions.

The pre-employment process includes completing a medical evaluation, passing a drug screen and background check.
