SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Power Engineer will work with the Power Supervisor to assist with the operation of two coal-fired power boilers, one gas-fired package boiler, two turbine generators, a water treatment plant, Lime Kiln and coal unloading facility. The Power Engineer will have specific responsibility for the daily operation of the water treatment plant, Lime Kiln and turbine generators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
General responsibility to assist the Power Supervisor with the management of two coal-fired power boilers, one gas-fired package boiler, two turbine generators, water treatment plant , Lime Kiln and coal unloading facility to ensure safe, efficient and cost effective operations.
Specific responsibility for the daily operation of the water treatment plant, Lime Kiln and turbine generators.
Assure compliance with safety and environmental policies and regulations. Maintain an acceptable level of safety performance.
Supervise subordinates to ensure quality and production standards are maintained. Ensure area employees maintain good housekeeping habits. Ensure standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides are developed and utilized for common activities and problems.
Ensure equipment is in proper operating condition to ensure safe operations, product quality requirements, and production standards. Coordinate repairs and maintenance including validating work requests.
Provide regular written and verbal communications to superiors, peers and subordinates.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering; minimum of 2 years of related work experience
Strong organizational skills, and above-average ability to troubleshoot operational problems
Good communication, organizational and people skills.
