This position is responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the facility. The facility is a 1,000 megawatt combined cycle plant utilizing four General Electric Frame 7FA Gas Turbines and two General Electric D11 Steam Turbines, four AALBORG heat recovery steam generators, an emergency diesel generator, and a water treatment plant. The responsibilities include: Troubleshooting, overhauling, and maintaining all machinery commonly found in power plants with special emphasis on Transmitters, PLC’s, Control Valves, HVAC, and Control Systems. Assisting in developing and improving the facility’s preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Coordinating and supervising subcontracted maintenance and construction activities. Safeguarding the employees by conforming to all facility safety policies. Complying with all local, state and federal environmental permits. Tracking and inventorying spare parts and consumables through the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Reviewing, performing, and updating work orders assigned through the CMMS. Testing, calibrating, and repairing all types of electrical transmitters, temperature thermocouples, Gas Turbine instruments, and Steam Turbine instruments. Performing other assigned collateral duties. Integrating with the Operations Department when required. Performing tasks that require physical exertion. Being responsive to overtime and callout requests. Identifying any abnormal plant condition and taking the appropriate corrective actions. Cross training with multiple crafts. Reports directly to the Plant Manager of Maintenance. When acting as an assistant plant operator (APO), reports directly to the control room coordinator or (CRC) and the Plant Manager of Operations. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls. Required: 5 – 10 years experience working in a power plant on equipment that runs the power plant (maintenance). High School graduate or equivalency required. Desired: College and/or Technical School education.
