Job Title Engineer I/II-Boiler Specialist

Location VA - Richmond

Job Summary: Perform technical Boiler assessments to formulate cost effective short-term repair and long-term maintenance strategies of power station facilities.
Perform forensic root cause analysis of Boiler related problems including tube leaks and boiler performance to improve Boiler reliability/availability, requiring strong equipment and system troubleshooting aptitudes.
Provides engineering support for boiler related studies, work scope and specification development, cost estimates, construction support and vendor surveillance.
Analyze performance and operational boiler data to diagnose boiler degradation problems.

This position may be filled at the Engineer I, II, or III level depending on the qualifications of the individual.

NOTE: In this position your job duties will include onsite inspection and maintenance of boilers. You must be willing to work in confined spaces in an industrial power plant environment dealing with specific maintenance and operations issues for large plant boilers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Minimum 5-10 years of technical engineering support experience in the maintenance & operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler/steam generators. Experience with ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Codes, National Board Inspection Codes, Boiler R Stamp requirements, familiarity with associated Boiler component design and a working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination methods and welding processes.

Must have effective written and oral skills that foster a positive interpersonal communication. Must be able to work effectively independently and in a team environment.

Education Required: Bachelors Engineering


Preferred: Demonstrated related experience may be substituted for preferred education.

Certifications and Other Qualifications Four year accredited engineering degree (mechanical or chemical preferred), with minimum 5-10 years of technical engineering support experience in the maintenance & operation of fossil-fueled (coal, oil, gas) boiler/steam generators.

Working Conditions Must work in both a power station and corporate environment. Work exposure in the field includes dusty and often noisy environments and crawling inside tight boiler corridors.
