: Be a key member of the start-up team for SmartBurn®, a business unit of RMT, Inc., which is a division of Alliant Energy, publicly traded energy and energy services provider. SmartBurn® is focused on using innovative technologies to improve combustion to enhance unit operations and reduce NOx emissions for coal-fired boilers at both utility and industrial companies. : The Opportunity - We are looking for a Test Technician with power or process plant experience to join the team in our Madison, WI office. You will be responsible for: : Planning, developing and supporting test programs to provide the information necessary to develop, implement, monitor and control the SmartBurn® implementation of various types of combustion units. : Developing standards and providing training on specialized equipment for all SmartBurn® staff members (as required) along with on site training for plant personnel and informing personnel of all safety requirements on each piece of equipment : Active participation in the test team which bench marks existing unit conditions, evaluates, validates, implements optimized combustion model results and/or bench marks enhanced equipment performance in the power generation process to further reduce environmental emissions. : Evaluate cause and effect results of testing to identify and recommend changes that could potentially enhance the efficiency of the SmartBurn® process. Verify that the completed tests meet or exceed industry standards for the test application and the criteria developed for SmartBurn. : Maintain and generate reports as required. : Interface with Engineering and Research & Development Groups to ensure internal and external test requirements are met in accordance with scheduled activities and safety requirements. : Actively assist in the budgeting process for project implementation, continued equipment maintenance, and technological test equipment advancements. Develop and maintain (using lean Manufacturing principles) replacement/wear parts list. : Requirements – Qualified candidates will have a combination of 2 years formal post-High School education and/or relevant testing and experience in a related field. Experience in the utility, energy or related industry desired. Demonstrated analytical and communications skills in a team environment are essential. The candidate should be capable of being self-directed and must be able to manage multiple priorities and work in a diverse and fast-paced environment. Must be quality and customer-focused and a team player. Must have a valid driver’s license.
