The Opportunity: We are searching for a Boiler Design Engineer to join a closely knit team of professionals to help design components or systems for pollution reduction and performance improvements in coal-fired boiler systems. The successful candidates will be involved in both the initial design, engineering, installation and implementation, and optimization of the coal-fired boilers. You will use your experience to become a key member of the SmartBurn® Team, a business unit of RMT, Inc. focused on using innovative technologies to improve combustion to reduce emissions and increase performance for coal-fired boilers at both utility and industrial companies.

The Position: We are looking for a qualified Boiler Design Engineer to join the team in our Madison, WI office. This position could be in Engineer III – V level depending on your experience.

Responsibilities:
-Implement technical concepts of pollutant reduction and performance improvement into coal-fired boiler system modification design.
-Provide engineering to product development from technical concept through to construction and commissioning.
-Design and layout the concepts with associated components and subsystems utilizing the most practical arrangement for fabrication and construction.
-Perform as a project technical leader to complete the design definition and manufacture of assigned modifications or projects.
-Design, and manage the design process for boiler processes and component modification including windbox, burner compartment, over-fire air compartment, and ductwork, and structural support systems.
-Review designs for their ability to meet performance requirements and recommend changes/modifications to meet performance and cost requirements.
-Perform quality assurance for concept implementation and design process.
-Communicate on issues related to projects, including interacting with internal and external staff and making periodic reports to management and clients on progress, problems/risks and recommendations.
-Supervise junior engineers conducting design and preparing engineering drawings.

Qualifications:
-Engineering degree (prefer BSME or MSME) with a minimum of three years directly related design experience with boiler system (Alstom, B&W, Foster Wheeler, Riley, etc.).
-Experience with AutoCAD software or other design software tools.
-Great exposure to applicable design codes (ASME, AISC, etc.).
-Willing to travel to various job sites around the United States.
-Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients.
-Good command of both spoken and written English
