: J. Craig Venter Institute is currently seeking a Junior Maintenance Mechanic. : : The Junior Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to a variety of commercial building equipment. This individual will use working knowledge of a variety of building equipment to perform routine service and basic maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, basic repairs, plumbing, HVAC, electrical circuits, motors and controls. : : Qualifications include but are not limited to: : : High School diploma or equivalency required, Vocational Schooling a plus. Three years total experience in building maintenance activities that include the following: : :  CFC license as set forth by the EPA. :  A Maryland fourth class boiler Engineer Operators license preferred. :  Must obtain a Maryland third class boiler Engineer Operators license within one year. :  Beginner level experience in boiler water treatment. :  Beginner level experience in HVAC. : : Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. : : Must be able to use ladders to access high places; must be able to withstand heights. : : Possession and maintenance of a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with JCVI driver responsibilities and guidelines. : : Availability for after-hours standby and on-call duties related to the HVAC units. : : Proficiency with standard administrative procedures and office equipment. : : Excellent organization and time management skills. : : Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shift priorities simultaneously. : : Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts; ability to work as an effective team member. : : Cooperative and service-oriented attitude; must be able to work under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor. : : Ability to use sound judgment to effectively solve problems within the scope of the position. : : JCVI offers an excellent working environment and a competitive benefits package.
