Job Summary:
This position will be filled at either the Engineer II or Technical Specialist II, depending on successful candidate's qualifications.

The role to be filled is primarily as the Station Boiler Engineer. As such, you will be responsible for analyzing boiler condition and developing and implementing both short term and long term maintenance strategies for the boiler and related equipment. You will be responsible for adherence to the National Boiler Code and for maintaining proper certifications of pressure vessels, related equipment, and their repairs. You will lead boiler inspections and supervise various contractor activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position requires significant prior experience with and knowledge of large coal fired utility boilers—seeking candidates with at least 5 years of boiler maintenance and inspection experience. Applicants should possess strong mechanical and equipment troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of material handling systems, power transmission equipment, and steam generation is required. Candidates must interrelate well with all station personnel (operations, management, maintenance, and technical support) to complete projects and investigate equipment failures. Must be a self-starter and willing to take ownership for completion of assigned tasks and projects. Must be organized and have good written and verbal communication skills.

Education, Certification and Other Qualifications:
Accredited Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Experience in the fields of Nondestructive Examination (NDE), Condition Based Assessment (CBA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Performance Monitoring are all beneficial.

Clover Power Station has the distinction of being one of the cleanest coal-fired power stations in the nation. Clover's two 465-megawatt units, which began operating in 1995 and 1996, burn an average of 3,786 tons of coal per day.
Clover Power Station is located on the Staunton River, in beautiful Halifax County, Virginia, near the town of Clover. Halifax County is centrally located on Virginia’s southern border, and offers many historical and recreational attractions. During the site clearing and construction of the station, a Civil War battlefield was restored and donated to the state of Virginia.
