Manage operations and maintenance, both technical and personnel of 450 ton-per-day waste-to-energy facility, including safety and environmental compliance by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Ensure that corporate directives, policies and procedures are implemented.

Communicate contract commitments to operations and maintenance department employees. Ensure that contract commitments are achieved.

Manage day-to-day activities of shift supervisors and maintenance superintendent.

Establish and measure plant performance against financial and non-financial goals and objectives for operations.

Interface with engineering staff to resolve technical problems at site and implement required engineering proposed changes.

Promote total quality, employee ownership, fair labor practices, and team building in operations and maintenance group.

Develop, maintain, update, and communicate safety programs and training programs and monitor for desired results.

Manage hiring of new operations and maintenance personnel to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and EEO regulations.

Take prompt action to correct deficiencies identified by self-audits, corporate audits, and regulatory agency and insurance inspections.

Assist in maintaining and improving the workplace safety program through participation in the development of Job Safety Analysis’s, providing feedback on existing safety programs, submitting suggestions for improving the work environment, and by contributing to Safety Committee activities.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage subordinate shift supervisors and the maintenance superintendent who supervise groups of hourly employees. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving problems.

The facility is located in Poughkeepsie, NY. Experience in Waste-to-Energy preferred.
