Solar Turbines’ products include gas turbine engines (rated from 1590 to 19,800 horsepower), gas compressors, and gas turbine-powered compressor sets, mechanical-drive packages and generator sets (ranging from 1 to 15 megawatts). As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Solar has a global network of offices and facilities to support customers with a variety of service products and programs as well as an experienced technical support team. We currently have an opening for an Operations and Maintenance Technician in New Jersey.

Position includes administration, technical, operations, maintenance, and repairs associated with Solar Turbines turbo-machinery and industrial equipment applications and balance of plant equipment. Technical scope includes varying project industrial equipment and custom configurations including power generation, oil/gas compression distribution, thermal applications distribution, and mechanical applications.

Safely performing routine operational testing and adjustments on all facility equipment, conducting chemical analysis of boiler-water/feed-water systems, participate in daily preventative and repair maintenance activities, maintain equipment operating logs and properly document activities while on duty, maintain a safe and clean work environment, comply with regulatory and safety regulations, troubleshoot and repair failed machinery and control systems, operate and maintain various equipment and perform other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Position requires candidate to work a rotating shift:
First half of a month working days and 2nd half of a month working nights.
12 hour shifts. The selected candidate will work 3 days (36 hours) one week and 4 days (48 hours) the next. Built-in 8 hours over-time (paid) on every 4 day work-week.

Skills:
Candidate who possesses a New Jersey High Pressure Boiler Operator License is highly preferred.
Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Must possess a valid agency issued drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
Applicable industrial, technical, vocational, or military training, and/or a minimum of 1 year related experience operating and maintaining industrial facilities required.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds from floor to waist and 20 pounds in awkward positions.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including hearing protection, respirators or SCBA equipment.
Must be able to work from ladders, elevated walkways, and/or possible confined spaces.
Understanding of process control, energy management, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner is required.
Strong computer skills and the ability to read electrical and mechanical P&ID’s are highly desired.
Knowledge and skills are generally consistent with military experience in the following: GSE (Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Electrical), GSM (Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Mechanical), EN (Engineman), MM (Machinist Mate), AE (Aviation Electrician's Mate), AT (Aviation Electronics Technician), or AD (Aviation Machinist Mate).
