: Hi Heatpro, Can I just use a inch pound pressure gauge to use to check incoming gas pressure? I see they sell these manometers that measure water column, and are expensive. Long as I know what the water column converts to in pressure can't I use a inch pound pressure gauge? A lot less money.

If pros could 'get away' with a cheap meter they would. A pound is shown on a gauge when water stands 27.71 inches above it. You won't be able to see where 4 inches of water column are on a pound gauge.

If you understand the principles, then someone can make a cheap water column u-tube gauge out of plastic tubing and a little color in the water.
