ok, I figured as much. Holes were drilled out, diverter was cleaned out, heat exchanger was cleaned out from rust and soot, (was VERY clogged).
Now I think I reached my limits...
I fire up the gas boiler and the flames go straight up nice and are VERY STRONG now. Too strong! closed the vents on the flame burners and still too strong.
Is it possible that the burners were so dirty that the gas was adjusted to compensate in the past? Now that they are clean, could the gas be adjusted back down? i think I may call in a professional, but I would like to have a good idea before I call one in.
