Also hear that some have a hot water heater build into the same unit; is this true? (and do they work well/efficient?)
+ Some do; but I wouldn't use one for two apartments.

+ There are companies that make meters to estimate how much heat is sent to two apartments; however they are expensive and complicate the matter.

We would like to keep same reserve tank, as well as the B&G pump.

I suggest wall-hung boilers for each apartment.
