I'm finally getting around to insulating the steam pipes in the basement. The old asbestos was removed a couple years ago. I am looking at fiberglass pipe insulation. Is 1/2" thickness ok, or should I go with the 1". Also, while I am able to get 2" or 2 1/2" dia, I have yet to find 2 1/4" dia, which is what the pipe coming off the boiler is... does anyone know of a good source for this?
