Standing pilot versus electronic ignition

We're replacing our 30 year Burnham natural gas steam boiler that has electronic ignition with a Weil-McLean EG-45 SPD. This model has the standing pilot where as the PID model has the electronic spark.

Any advantages or disadvantages between the two systems?
