As a tankless water heater is used, it gathers liming from water hardness which makes the diverter valve sticky, requiring increasing water pressure to make movement. The factory recommends yearly refurbishment which means disassembly, cleaning of the coils and replacement of diverter parts. Americans are not used to repairing and adjusting on a yearly plan because of service-free years from a past history with tank-type water heaters, so assume that it is a simple adjustment or replacement of just the right part eventually some time in five to ten years or so without ever having to clean such units.
