I just went through the same thing. You can buy 3/8" thick x 3' length fiberglass jackets at Home Depot or Lowe's. You can also get the thicker industrial stuff from McMaster Carr or Grainger supply. The local stores don't carry those fancy pre-molded elbows or anything, just the jackets.

: Kirk posted a request like this in September but there were no responses so here goes again.

: I had the asbestos insulation removed from my 1920s apt. building steam feeds and returns. I'd like to get something 'modern' up to replace the asbestos but I have scoured the internet and cannot find a product or supplier (net or local) in the Chicago area.

: Can anyone who tracks this discussion group offer any ideas? Of course, I'd like to do this on the cheap.

: Would standard fiberglass insulation, like the kind you put between drywall and outside wall, work or be safe?

: Thanks for any advice!
