A 16 year old Peerless gas steam boiler has developed a leak in the jacket. It is out of warranty and I have been advised to replace it by more than one tech. My questions: What are the better steam boilers to buy? How do you accurately estimate sizing veresus just replacing the same sized unit? Should there be water analysis done to decide on wheter the water should be treated since it is felt that the current boiler should have lasted longer and many deposits were seen around the cast iron? Lastly, any opinion on Lennox or Dunkirk boilers?
