: : What about using using copper piping? Contractor 1 speaks only of steel while contractor 2 speaks of steel and copper. Which should be used in those applications, copper or steel?

: copper expands much more than steel... much faster... steam hotter than hot water... copper will expand a lot more very fast... expand contract expand contract... joints wear out real fast... leaks sooner.... copper sheds heat faster too... steam will start to condense before it reaches the rads... leads to water hammer... bang bang bang... also... copper to steel... leads to galvanic corrosion... unless a dielectric fitting is installed between them... contractor using copper.. because its cheaper... not so much any more...

Makes sense, thanks!
